Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are diseases that are caused by viruses, bacteria, parasites, fungi and toxins. These Neglected Tropical Diseases can result in a devastating social and economic health challenge to the individual involved, when not detected on time or at an early stage.

    "Neglected" as a term was used in Neglected Tropical Diseases, because most times when funding are released with limited resources, they are usually ignored by Funding agencies and organisation.

These neglected tropical disease, pose some risk in the world if ignored and untackled, some cases of neglected tropical disease occur amongst poor people or marginalized people in the society.

       Some common Neglected Tropical diseases in the world today include:

1) Schistosomiasis

2) Soil Transmitted Helminthiasis

3) Guinea Worm Disease

4) Trachoma

      The above listed "Neglected Tropical Diseases"  can be eliminated and controlled:

1) Through Good hygiene, Proper Sanitation and sanitary food handling, vector control and provision or usage of Clean and treated water, which are of low cost and give Effective results.

2) WHO or Government, should Educate the world or Society using Agencies, that teaches the people some techniques or knowledge to apply in certain situations to reduce their risk of inviting Neglected tropical diseases into their environment.
For Example, Agencies teaching people on how to carry out proper sanitation and cleaning areas with standing and dirty water that promotes breeding of Mosquitoes and also providing them with treated bed nets and teaching them the importance of sleeping on a treated bed.

Note:
Neglected tropical diseases are treatable, when noticed on time or detected at an early stage, this in turn prevents disability and death in the affected individual or patient.
